Zhang was Associate Professor in the Department of English at the Chinese University of Hong Kong at the time of publication. He received his PhD in English from the University of Alberta, Canada. He has published articles on modern fiction and Asian American literature.;Yip was Professor and Chairperson of the Department of English Language and Literature at Hong Kong Baptist University at the time of publication. She received her PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She has published extensively on gender and modern literature.
